Fitment

Confirm your engine

• Check the 5th digit of your VIN: Z = 2GR-FKS (this engine family). K = older 2GR-FE, not this engine. E = older 2GR-FSE (2017 IS 350 / RC 350 and 2015-and-older GS 350), not this engine.
• Your vehicle model and year decide the version. Use the fitment table above and pick the listing for your vehicle.
• Hybrids are not this engine. V6 hybrids use the 2GR-FXS or 2GR-FXE.

Send us your VIN to confirm the right version before your engine is built.

Which version do I have?

Toyota built the 3.5L V6 2GR-FKS in several versions for different vehicles. They are NOT interchangeable between vehicle types: the timing cover, engine mounting and short block are specific to the layout (Tacoma truck, transverse FWD/AWD cars and SUVs, or Lexus RWD/AWD sedans and coupes). We list each version separately so you get the one that matches your vehicle:

• Toyota 3.5L V6 2GR-FKS Remanufactured Engine (Tacoma 2016-2023)
• Toyota 3.5L V6 2GR-FKS Remanufactured Engine (Camry, Avalon, Highlander, Sienna)
• Lexus 3.5L V6 2GR-FKS Remanufactured Engine (RX 350 / ES 350)

Part numbers and casting numbers

We have not been able to verify cast-in casting numbers for the 2GR-FKS versions, so we don't list any. For reference, these are Toyota's short block part numbers for each version (Toyota service part number, not a casting number):

Not covered

• 2017 IS 350 / RC 350: used the older 2GR-FSE engine (306 hp, VIN 5th digit E), NOT this engine. The 2GR-FKS starts with the 2018 IS 350 and RC 350 (311 hp). Not this engine: hybrid models (for example GS 450h), the 2015-and-older GS 350 (2GR-FSE), and 4-cylinder turbo models. For the newest IS / RC model years, send us your VIN to confirm.

Break-in

The first 1,000 miles are the break-in period. Use conventional oil only, change the oil and filter at 500 miles, vary your RPM, and avoid towing, heavy loads and long idling. Check your oil level regularly, since some oil burn-off is normal until the rings seat. Following the break-in procedure is required to keep your warranty.

Warranty and core

Warranty: 1-year unlimited-mile warranty on the engine only; labor is not covered. Optional 3-year extended warranty available for $1,500 (includes labor coverage at $50/hr). See our Warranty & Refund Policy. Add the 3-year extended warranty to your order.

Core charge: none. All engines are built to order.
